I got my GC through I-551 in January 2006 and recived the plastic card in Feb 2006 . I came to India in April 2006 and had to stay back due to parents health. Recently I lost my GC plastic Card. I filed a FIR and went to the US consulate to get a new a re-entry permit.

As I still have a valid stamp on my passport, they told me to re-enter the US and file for a GC there. But I am nervous about the problems at the POE.

I have a copies of the plastic card and a visa stamp on my passport valid till Dec 5th 2006 (one year permanent resident visa).

Please advise if I need to take any additional documents at the POE.

Thanks in Advance.

IMO, that stamp in your passport should work to get you into the US.
Not a definitive list but I suggest you carry the following in addition to what you have mentioned:
> Copy of the FIR
> Any proof of the US consulate appointment

Basically at POE you want to demonstrate that once you lost the platic card, you tried to do whatever possible to get reentry permit etc.

Best of luck!

If the date on the stamp is still valid, then the stamp is just as good as the actual card for POE purposes.

When you get back to the US file form I-90 to get a new card.
