Lost AP -any advice?

My husband' luggage was stolen last week during travel and lost the I-131 Travel Document he got from INS before the trip. And we don't have any copies! What should we do? How can he get back to the U.S without causing any problems for our I-485 application, Adjustment of Status?

He needs to contact nearest US consulate for transportation letter.
