My mother was approved for asylum back in 99. My siblings and I were also approved for the same status through her. However I never applied for my green card. Now at 26 I went to the immigration office since I lost my approval notice before applying for my green card. I am being told different stories, one is that I have to file a 589, meaning reapply for asylum by myself even though I was granted asylum through my mother. The other story is fill out form 824(i believe) requesting a copy of my approval notice, then apply for my I94 after I received those two only then I can apply with form I485...
I am so lost, I am not sure what I should believe. The stories from my local immigration office and the nebraska service center are completly different.
Anyone been in a similar situation? Please let me know what in your opinion is true and will not delay this already long process....
