Los Angeles: Possible to request same day appointments for Mother/Adult Son?

Hi,

I reside in LA county, and currently in the process of submitting my application for US Naturalization along with my mother's.

Is it possible to request same day appointments, particularly the interview and oath, to be at the same day and time for us?

And if so, how is that done?

I would greatly appreciate any info about this.

Usually spouses are scheduled together, you may write a letter with the petitions and see what happens, also send the petitions together and it might just happen anyway.
 
Thank you, that's a great idea to mail the applications together. She is elderly and cannot go alone so I was hoping to be there with her throughout the process.

If anyone has successfully or unsuccessfully requested a similar petition I'd be greatly interested in hearing how it went.
 
There is no guarantee.
However, usually applications sent together get processed close to each other. Still, it is based on computer system.
At worst, you will need to go twice - once for yourself, once for her.
If you request, a kind IO may go override the computer, but do not bet on it.
 
Don't count on having the interview on the same day as her. If she's over 75 she won't do fingerprinting, but presumably you are under 75 so you will be fingerprinted. So that is one thing that could cause her case to be processed before yours.

If you get the interview for the same day, it's better to have the interviews at different times so whoever goes second will know the outcome of the first interview. That way, the second person can request the oath date to match the same day as the first person's oath (that's if they already set an oath date for the first person).

When I recently went for my interview in Atlanta, there were several elderly individuals and couples each accompanied by a bored-looking adult who was only there as escort for their parent(s). Obviously, this happens all the time, and it's not a problem for the escort to accompany their parent into the building (through security). So at worst, usnatq will just have to take extra time off work to take the mother for her interview, etc. It's a nuisance, no doubt, but survivable.
 
You can't request the different steps together, however, you can request that the applications be processed together. Be aware though, that if there is a delay in one persons application, the other would probably get delayed too.
