Good day all...

I have been reading and getting great info from the site and i appreciate all of your advice and info.

To my question:

My Girlfriend is here on a B2 visa and with an entry date of May 2nd 2009.
She was here for 5 months. Applied and received an extension approval for another 3 months. (Which is what she applied for)

She would like to apply for another extension and there some things that she is hearing from people in Peru. (Her country of origin.)

1) That if you apply for an extension for a valid B2 Visa that you will automatically be punished for future attempts for entry to the USA. (This supposedly exists regardless of an acceptance or refusal of the extension application.)

2) That this could also affect the Visa status of her Mother. (Who has been in and out of the country many times)

3) That if she violates her Status (Remains illegally) that her family would suffer penalties.

A couple of things of note:

A) I am a US Citizen

B) There is no intent to Violate status.

C) We are in love and have been dating for some time. (I have been to Lima twice in the last year to visit her and her family as well)

D) The possibility exists that at some point we will travel to Peru to get married. (or get married here) Just starting to look at this option.

Thanks,,

Amos

A1: I will not call it punishment, but future POE questions may get tough.
A2: I very much doubt her mother would land in hot water just because her daughter applied for an extension.
A3: I am pretty sure that will not be the case.
