I got the landing papers almost 7 months back and now I need to land in Canada on or befeore oct 10th....But here my GC is in 485 stage and we(me and mywife) both have jobs with valid visas(h1b) till 2004 may.
***If you are sure that you will get your US GC in a short time and want to live in US it is your choice, I dont think I need to comment on this, but if you wish you can Land in Canada as PR any time now and you will get your Canada PR card if you provide a friends or relative address in Canada, once you have Canada Pr you can stay out of Canada for 3 years to maintain your Canada PR status. Canada PR card has nothing to do with your US GC
you know the changes every day US INS is making for nonimmigrants, nobody knows what they will change in few months INS is unpredectable, If I have been in your Situation I will land and keep Canada PR , 3 years are enough to wait for US GC, do you know in many US states LC in RIR or Regular is still at the same stage where it was last year and same month, I hope you understand why they are not moving the LC and many are struck only at first stage of GC.
we're thingking of cancelling the Canada PR and get the landing fee back........
*** YES, you can get your Landing fees back it will take around 4-5 months to get it back, you have to surrender your Immigration Visa paper to the Canadian Conulate that issued you the papers and write in coverletter that you do not need to become Canada PR.

You can LAND and Come back you do not have any problems.
what are the chances of getting PR if I cancel my PR now and apply in the future..?
***It will depend on the rules effective at that time and you will also have to convince at that time to visa officer that you realy want to become PR, you have to convince him/her, because you have wasted the time of Visa officers to asses your file in past

** No body can clear your confusion you have to sit with your Spouse and make a decion, take some deep breath exercise for few days, relax and take the decion.
Even if you land and get you Canada PR and then get your GC then Canada is not going to FORCE you that come to Canada , you can remain in US after US GC, or can go to Canada, you will have the option, see and Visit Canada, think about your future and kids future and make a decision.
Yes IT is bad at this time in Canada and US, who knows what will be the condition of IT jobs in Canada after 1-2 years
How much does it cost to just land in Canada from US? and having both the options to live?
