Looking for JoeF

Question

I knew that you were going to say that.

I am taking a business class and have been looking for information, but can't seem to find it. It may be posted somewhere on here, but I didn't see it in my search.

I was curious, and I am only asking you because you seem very knowledgeable about immigration and business, if you knew if there were any programs that the US government does for non-US people to come to the US to start a business. Tax breaks, grants, stuff like that.

Also are there ways to manipulate the system and keep receiving the benefits? For example, my husband heard (from a convenience store owner) that the government gives them 7 years (or something close to that) tax free to start a business, after which all they have to do is transfer the business to someone else in their family to get another 7 years free... is there any truth to this?

If you can't answer, but could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Thank you for your help. I appreciate all of the information.

However, I was looking again and I found, on another forum, that the 7 year tax free thing is for "refugees of war" that come over. And that if they get the money and their business goes under they don't have to pay anything back and they can turn around and sign up again to do another business.

But I will contact the Chamber of Commerce to see if there are any Maryland laws relating to any of this. Thank you for your help. Again, I really appreciate it.
