did not do Special reg because I travel quite frequently out of the country, so was last inspected after 9/30/2002.

Just came back from vacation, nice new year gift.

Thank you everyone in this board for help and support. I am a plaintiff for the lawsuit, and will continue to support the fight to improve the immigration system and help improve the quality of life for immigrants in this country.

Gives me some hope too, since my dates are very similar to yours (RD 9/13/01, 2nd FP 11/24/03).
 
Congratulations!! It's nice to see people who are active at this board get approval. After a while you feel like you know them and always wondered what happens to them. Really really nice to hear the good news from you. I do remember that I've agreed to be a plintiff for the law suit after I saw your post a while back and I've received my approval before the law suit even was launched. Hey, congrat!!!

Your approval gives us some hope that these people haven't forgotten old cases from '01. Hope they take a look at the other pending cases in that time frame too.

Wandergirlus, yeah, I found it amazing too that we all strangers can talk like we know each other well in these boards, sharing our little triumphs and setbacks, even dared some mighty things together (like coordinating petitions, lobbying efforts,and even a class action lawsuit; I am not surprised if things don't get better, a march to DC will be next). Btw: like you, I also just got engaged, popped the question just before the holiday.

norfe, I think it is the other way around, the USCIS is the happy guys that they got a monkey like me off their back. At first, I was a patient one, just sat around waiting for my turn. but after 18 months or so, I lost my patience, and started to nag them endlessly. I tried everything, countless calls to the customer service, 4 congressional inquiries (which all got answered that my case RD is 9/2001, while they were still working on 8/2001 cases), got my lawyer to write complain letters, and filed a lawsuit with Rajiv. I know these whining were useless, but I did them anyways, just for the heck of it.

Everyone else, hang on tight, your time will come. I know it's easy for me to say. It's funny how during the whole process, I found myself questioning whether I really wanted to do this. I really admired to this nation before. However, the way we are treated to get our GC got me asking whether I was really welcome here. I am a part of a minority ethnic group back in my home country. I thought the US was a place where people from different backgrounds (race, class, religion, idealism etc.) can flourish together. Again, I got myself questioning a lot about that following the developments after 9/11 and beyond, whether it is better here than back home. Well, I guess I can just pray that things will only get better from here, and it is up to people like us to initiate and catalyze that.

Rajiv and co., thanks for everything, especially for helping our fights. We need more people like you. People here were often asking why you do all this for us. Like you, my dad was an attorney too. He loved to volunteer his time doing pro-bono works, because he thinks that's where he could really fight for the causes he really believed in.

I only contributed a little, compared to what Rajiv et. al. did.

I probably will not apply for US citizenship. I love my homeland. My plan is to go back to school here in the US in the next few years and then go back home. Since my country does not allow dual citizenship, it would be a tough choice for me. Well, I have several more years to think about it.

However, I will still help you guys to fight for our cause. I don't think anyone deserves this kind of treatment form USCIS, or anyone else. I said it before that if USCIS was a private company, I probably would have sued them for millions of dollars myself.
