Long GC journey is almost over.

Well, my long GC journey is almost over. My wife and my I-485 have been approved on July 3rd, while my daughter's is still pending.

Here is my GC journey:

I graduated from graduate school in May 1999 and have been with my current employer since then. In March 2000, my employer started the paper work for LC. In July 2000, application for LC was filed with the state agency. Then there was company-wide layoff in October 2000 and all the LC
applications were sent back from the state agency. The LC could not be filed in 6 months. Then there were layoff again in a year. I was very depressed.

Finally in December 2001, the company started the LC application again with the state agency, which I believe is still pending with the DOL federal agency by now.

The company accuqired another company and someone with an approved LC left the company. One day in May 2002, I got an email from the lawyer, saying there was a potential match for substitute LC. I was very thrilled and wish to get it. However, they found a match before me. One week later, they said they
had another LC and this time, I got it. I was very happy.

I-140 were filed in June 2002, and after the July 31 2002 new regulation allowing I-140/I-485 concurrent filing, I-485 were filed on August, 2002.

I-140 were approved in October 2002, and then came the long wait, during which I had applied for 3 EADs and 3 APs.

In April, we got the 2nd FP notices and went as scheduled on May 22, 2004.

This morning (07/06/2004), I checked the status and found my wife and my cases have been approved, but my daughter's case is still pending.

This forum gave me a lot of useful information. I will be around to answer any questions you may have.

Congratulations... I am sure you would have been through several mental turmoils.. good Luck... and since you graduated from a US school, am I correct in assuming that your case is an EB2 case?

Thanks

Congratulations!

On another thread I asked you a question about your 2FP. But it is answered here.
Thanks
Congratulations again!

how long to get the approval notice

I have not received the notice yet in the mail. I know I am impatient. However, does any one have any idea how long it is going to take to get the notice in the mail?

approval notice received in the mail

Just got the approval notices in the mail. We will go stamping tomorrow at Salt Lake City.

Congratulation!!!

passport stamping done

We left home for Salt Lake City at 8:00 am. Because of traffic jam, we arrived at the INS office at 9:10 am, and got a number of 23, while number 10 is being served.

At 9:20 am, our number was called and we showed the courtersy approval notice, passport, I-94, and the officer asked for all the documents issued by INS, and I gave her all EADs and APs. Then she stamped our passport as following:

PROCESSED FOR I-551.
TEMPORARY EVIDENCE OF
LAWFULE ADMMISION FOR
PERMANENT RESIDENCE
VALID UNTIL JUL 12, 2005.
EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZED
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH

Also she hand-wrote the A#, LIN#, other stuff around the stamp.

Then we were asked to go to an counter to have index finger printed on a blank form front and back, sign it front and back too.

She congratulated us and said that's it.

I asked her what happend to my daughter's case which is still pending. She checked her computer and said that I have to contact NSC.

She also said it will take over a year to get the actual card as it is from NSC. We can have our passport re-stamped if the stamp expires.

We were out of the office at 9:30 am.

Now I will concentrate to have my daughter's application approved.

Thank you all for your support.

Social Security Card

I just went to the SSA office and applied new cards to remove the printing of "INS Authorization ..." removed. I was told I should get the cards in the mail in 10 -14 days.

That is great.

My wife and two kids are yet to be approved.

How are you going to follow your daughters case?

Srjumde - Approved 07/07/2004.

srjumde

My attorney said that he would call if still no approval by next week.

I will also contact US senator in the state of Utah.

Congrats !!

UTGC2002 Congratulations !!!!!

Your daughter will get it in the next days. It shouldn't be a problem.
Thanks for your update. I didn't know how this final stage was (maybe because is still far...)

You didn't need an additional interview or appointment at the local office, right? Just walked in and got the passport stamp.

Congrats again !

called the USCIS service line

Just called USCIS service line and after 30 minutes waiting, a lady picked up the phone, and I told her my daughter's lin # and she told me the exact message I can find online. Then I asked her why my case is approved, while my daughter's is still pending, she said each case is independent and can be assigned to different adjustors. She also said she could not do anything because the published processing date is Feb 1, 2002.

Then I hang up.

RFE issued for my daughter's case

Just got an email from USCIS saying that an RFE was issued on July 16, 2004. Detail unknown.

Got the RFE letter from the attorney, it is about birth certificate. Sent the documents to the attorney this afternoon, hopefully the attorney can submitted them soon.
