Could someone tell me if and how they applied for the police record from the US? Also how long did it take. Thanks alot!!!

Police Clearance
Hi,
If you are looking for a police clearance certificate from the UK, it depends where you used to live.
For London, the police force is the Metropolitan Police. The following link should explain everything:

If not London, you need to follow the link on that page to your regional police service.
It can take up to 40 days. You need to send them a cheque for 10 pounds, proof of your name and address in the UK (with a picture), and a signed letter with your US address if you want them to send the certificate to you in the US - also, may be wise to include something proving your US address e.g. bank statement / utility bill.
I sent my photocard driver\'s license, but Royal Mail lost it while sending it back to me. That happened to a friend of mine too! Hopefully it won\'t happen to you. Otherwise, send a notarised copy of your UK photocard driver\'s license to avoid this hassle.
You do not need a US police clearance certificate - the consulate performs that for you (FBI check, I believe).
