London CP experience
I finished my CP in London last week. Everything was
very smooth.
Did my photos in Passport Photos on Oxford Street
the day before (4 photos for about 5-6 pounds), took
10 minutes.
Went to the doctor 8 am on the day, door open at 8:00,
proceed to the sitting room at the
back of the building, each one is
given a folder to place passport, medical form, and any
medical records, plus one photo (out of your 4, the
consulate will need 3). Called later to pay (credit card
accepted), then waited a long time till called to go down to the
basement, had blood taken, then more wait,
did X-ray, then see the doctor which measures the
blood pressure and review medical records to decide whether
immunization is needed, finished medical about 11:00am.
I then went to the consulate which is about 10 minutes
walk from the medical clinic. Handed in the DS230-part II
(signed in front of the officer), waited, then called to
hand in other documents (as listed in the appointment letter,
e.g., Birth certificates, police certificates, employment letter,
I134 if you have family), no other documents are required
(e..g, tax return were not asked). Interviewed
by an officer later. Asked where I work and what I do,
no other questions.
Asked to return at 1:00pm. Back at 1:00 pm after lunch,
waited about 1/2 hours, given the brown envelope with a
sheet stapled on the front with my personnel details. Asked
to take it with me on the port of entry.
POE is also smooth. Went to the citizen/resident lane,
shown the officer the envelope. Led to
an office by another officer who open the envelope there
and checked the documents, then took my figner print
(this took a few attempts), stamped the
passport with a 1 year greencard stamp. Told that
the card itself will arrive in 4-6 month, given a form
that I can use in case the greencard does not arrive.
The whole process took about 20 minutes.
That is it, the whole process is smooth although the
wait can be irritating.
