Local Transfer -- Two types of messages. What do they mean?

As we see increased amounts of transfers to local offices, I am seeing two types of transfer messages. Can, any of the gurus share their opinion on what they mean?

Especially, Message # 1 mentions about an explicit notice about to be sent to the applicant regarding the decision to transfer to a local office even though such a thing is not to be found in Message # 2. Also, Message # 2 explicitly talks about an interview , whereas Message # 1 does not mention that word at all. Also in Message # 2, it talks about, ...or take other action on your case. That, to me implies, even though it is kind of explicit about interview in Message # 2, there is still a possibility about a decision sans interview. Am foxed, totally. Please provide input:

Message # 1: On December 2, 2003, we transferred your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status to an office in ATLANTA, GA for processing. Our office in ATLANTA, GA will send you a written decision as soon as processing is complete. You should receive a notice informing you that your case has been transferred to a local office. Please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283 to receive information about local office processing times

Message # 2:On December 2, 2003, we transferred your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status to our office in ATLANTA, GA for them to schedule and conduct your interview. Scheduling can take several months. Our office in ATLANTA, GA will notify you when they schedule your interview or take other action on your case. If you need further information, please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283.

I am just thinking they both the cases are transfered to Atlanta Office and for one case they need some clarification, so they requested for the interview which is schudule by Atlanta Office.

After the interview, if they satiesfied the main case or interviewed case they will give the approval for the both cases.

One case is primary and the other one is derivative case it seems.
Am I right ?

the difference seems to be one mentions interview while other doesnot.
i always thought if ur case is transferred to local office it means you will always get an interview. so this is news to me

tombaan and Bash

tombaan:

Yes bud. There are TWO distinct messages regarding local transfer and one positively asseverates the possibility of an interview. So, keep this in mind.

BASH:

Splendiferous interpretation, dude. Kudos. However, I think, the second message may be for BOTH primary and derivative. So, TSC almost came to the point of adjudication when it had a potential headache for the local office to resolve. So, it had merely stated the reasons in the file for the local-office to grill upon during the proposed interview. This may be MESSAGE # 2. However, for MESSAGE # 1, it practically handed it over to Atlanta Office saying, "Hello Atlanta, This is TSC. You deal with this case ab initio (Start from scratch on this file)." is what it would mean, in that case.

I also received similar messages for myself and my dependents (just the local office was different...).

At our transfer to the local office, message #1 was linked to my case (primary) while message #2 was linked to both my wife and daughter's cases (derivatives)...

I suspect message#2 is the one that matters for our three applications: our three cases had the same transfer date, I suspect they are being processed at the same time (while, with TSC, you can not be so sure of anything...), but they are "kind" enought to warn us that you may have to wait "a few more months before you get approved by your local office..."

Like three years is already not enough!!!!

Patience, patience,

Good luck to all...

Damerina,

What is your RD/ND and your location? When did your online message change to "Case transfer"?

Thanks

There are some district offices, which will process I-485 locally. I know Baltimore is one where Vermont transfers the cases for processing. It will speeds up processing. It may be like all GA application will be processed at Atlanta after initial scrutiny. It may be good news for TSC guys.
Please let me ask question this the message, which says ‘written decision’, is this a new one? Since when it is appearing?

poongunranar, any speculation as to what could be the reason behind your case being transferred ? When are you ND/RD ? Any change in job/location ? Have you rec'd any Snail mail ?
Just wondering if they are transferring cases to local offices ( like CSC as Kashmir mentioned ).

Re:goastros

Not sure, why. Could well be a trend in shunting most of the workload to local offices. Or, due to the overwhelming loss of jobs and other stuff that is affecting the economy that the USCIS has been given oral instructions to punctiliously follow-up on individual cases in order to find loop-holes to deny rather to approve. I am merely speculating and don't take it as it is. In my case, I haven't changed jobs, but could be the two I-140s that were generated after my company was acquired and had a I-140 amendment filed. Could also be due to the recent marriage before filing I-485. No communique received explicitly stating that my file has been transferred from TSC to the local office. My ND/RD - 08/02

For one of the friends in this forum, the local-office didn't send an interview notice. Rather, it sought details w.r.t his pending criminal case.

THIRD type of transfer message

Message # 3: Application Type: I485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status
Current Status:On January 7, 2004, we transferred your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status to another BCIS office for processing. They will send you a written decision as soon as processing is complete.

Myriad number of messages are being observed for transfer cases. I have no clue if they all mean different things, implicitly.

For ex:

In Message # 3, doesn't even say to which office it is transferred and if there would be an interview.

TheRealCanadian -- Answer please

TheRealCanadian : Please let me know, which, out of the three messages you got. That will explain the anomaly w.r.t many cases not receiving a notice of transfer. I believe you or your lawyer got a notice about the transfer. Most others, including myself, didn't get any. Thanks in advance.

I got message #2. My attorney, not I, received the transfer notice.

Thanks, TheRealCanadian

TheRealCanadian is TheRealSuperFastGuy (Do you also have your PC to page you :D :D). I also got Message # 2, but no formal SRC kind of notification by INS regarding the transfer.

So, ATLANTA will inform you about when your interview is going to be at DALLAS? :D :D :D

Also, if you don't mind, can you just type the message contained in the notice? Thanks.

Gingibi,

Sorry for the late reply, I did not check this thread for a while. Here are my data:

RD 4/25/01
ND 5/18/01
FP 3/27/03 (Done)
FP 4/16/03 (Received)
TRNSFR. 11/24/03 (San Antonio Local Office)

By the way, if somebody has experienced a local transfer to the San Antonio local office and therefore can provide a good estimate of the duration between the transfer date and the approval, please share it on this board. Thanks!

Best of luck to all!

Damerina, thank you for your reply!

Hope you get a quick approval of your case at the local office.
