Guys,

My wife went to her interview in Chennai today and was asked to get a PCC from the local police station in bangalore. She was in US for a month and a half on a Business visa and got a PCC from SFO Indian Consulate. She also had a PCC from RPO Bangalore. Inspite of all these, they wanted PCC from a local police station. My wife did go to the CP and DCP\'s office who refused to issue a PCC stating that only the RPO can do that. The Chennai consulate lady who was very curt asked my wife to go to a local police station and not the CP or DCP\'s office. I am just thoroughly frustrated with this whole process....

If you didnt face this problem, please post your details here. Others who havent yet attended your interview, try to get this.

What they want in certificate from local police station

I think if you take a simple certificate from local police station stating that there is no criminal record & bears good moral character then it should be suficient.

I think if we ask them to put "This office doesn\'t have objection to issue immigratnt visa.." then its out of their power.

Secondly did you wife just stayed few month in US?

Good luck

check my postings

I got the pcc from local police station - donot contact SP or DCP. I just wrote an application to the Thana Incharge that I need a clearance from the local police station for immigration purpose. What he did was, he put a seal on the application itself and wrote that there is not record found for residing at .

That\'s all you need - do not go to higher ups in the police and you dont need any approach.

Thanks guys

My wife is doing just that.. The police station in Bangalore still wants a letter from the Commissioner\'s office that they want the police station to give her a clearance. Lets see how that goes..Otherwise, I have asked her to get a letter that they do not have the authority to give the clearance..

Just another clarification!!
My wife is in the US for a month and a half only and so, her case is a bit different from most people who are on a H-1 or H-4. I guess a certificate from the consulate is sufficient for such cases. I dont know..

how come ?

gc_thollai,

can u please tell ur situation as to why your wife is doing a seperate CP interview, are u done with your CP interview ?

I am kinda in the same situation.

The interview lady must be a ruthless one, not sparing the female applicants either.

all the best.

My wife did a follow-to-join as I got married just days before my interview in Chennai.. But I did write to them a month back asking them to keep my interview after my wedding. My wife\'s case was entered during my interview and she was scheduled to interview in 8-10 weeks. I hope this answers ur question.

My wife got a PCC based on a mumbai PCC scan that someone has posted and got approved.

For all those who are doing a follow-to-join, you may want to carry the primary applicant\'s (spouse\'s) passport copy with the temporary PR stamp, copy of the green card if you have one already and even a copy of the immigrant visa on the packet they gave you if you have one. I heard that they ask atleast the passport copy in Chennai.
