Local offices capable of adjudicating?

You would think the USCIS could issue a preliminary stamp for like six months at the local office after I-485 receipt by Texas Service Center they could take the fingerprint at the local ofice and in those six months run an FBI check and then if it clears send a green card.

That is exactly what they are doing right now except they are scratching their right ear with their left hand so it takes three years not six months.

Thanks for the reply. Michal.

As I said earlier, FBI doesnt take 3yrs to clear u..they finish it in minutes (I think!) or may be in less than a day..service centers have a huge list of procedures to look at while adjudicating..its not just FBI clearance..I used to have a 200page document outlining the steps to adjudicate a AOS case...

OK then why not rely more on Local Offices

You might be right, but what if the USCIS relied more on local offices to do the administrative work while they do thier one day FBI check?

Michal.

michal man - have u been to the local offices..i had the unfortunate chance of being there 3 times..the govt offices in a 3rd world country r better than these...highly inefficient staff...no decency on how to behave...

on another note, local offices do adjudicate some cases..i dont think ours fall in that category..i have a friend whoz US citizen..he filed for his mom's AOS..and he just hates this process...just to ask a question abt ur application...u have to go early..stand in the line..wait for ur turn after 3-4hrs...take part in a fruitless conversation..come back home..atleast we have a # to call..and do the samething ofcourse..:)
