I got interview letter from Hartford local office. Its for both(myself & wife) of us. Interview letter says kids are not allowed and we have 18mths old kid. Can I request the officer to do the interview seperately so that one of us can watch the kid in the waiting area. Help needed please.

----- dont reschedule the date of Interview, take the kid with you and your wife can wait with kid in waiting area once he is finished with you, then you can come out and wife can go in and kid be can with you, if you are Primary applicant then they have to see orignal documents from you and you can show the marriage certificate, wife is dervative she is not going to be asked much, just they will ask her if she has any arrest record and ans will be NO, and her FP will be taken and they will stamp the passport. if still confused take some friend with you and he/she can be with kid. FYI Baltimore local office does not say that dont bring kids. This is news that local office is saying dont bring kid to interview

We went to the Baltimore office adn there were many many kids in the witing area. I would suggest to bring a trusting friend to watch the baby for those few minutes. reason is, they might ask your wife a question she might misunderstand, or you might get asked a simple question that your wife answered different.
either way, the interview officer could jump to conclusions on even one fact being misunderstood or answered hurriedly and contradictory.

"does your wife work?" you say: no she can't work yet
she says: yes, i babysit the nighborhood kids, i help my friend with extra errands for money, etc.

better to both be there to answer together or at least support each other by holding hands and being there next to you.

My experience at Baltimore BCIS

These were some questions asked of us on these boards, it might help out others??

what was the reason for your file transfer and Interview to Baltimore?
We live in Maryland so we applied through Vermont and our papers automatically transferred to Baltimore after just a few months.
We filed early November and soon after they transferred to Baltimore.

what was asked and papers asked,
The lady began by asking me my husband's DOB, wha his job was, where he was born, I think also his parents' names
She asked him most of the questions, such as where I worked, what I did, where we got married (chuch, city hall, etc), my DOB.
She also noticed he'd had 2 other petitions by blood rlatives before, and made a snotty statement about how everyone was applying for him.
We brought copies of everything we had, joint checking and savings, electric bills, phone bills, 2003 joint taxes, newspaper bill, his school bill, everything.

officer was A, B, C or D who did the Interview,
I don't know, it was a lady. She went up to the door and called out our names, we went up, walked through the door and sat in her really nice office. Swore to tell the truth and sat down together to answer stuff. TOok about 15-20 minutes but most of it was her shuffling through our papers like crazy. There were dead silence spots then she'd start asking questions again.

Where did we meet? What his brother's name was........

The wait to get in the building was long since Baltimore makes you go through metal detectors and take off your belts, show an ID, get a badge, all of that. Then once we got in, we had an appointment time but that doesn't matter. We were in queue until out officer got to us which was about an hour.

We did not get the GC since we were missing his medical exam. We mailed that in but are still waiting for GC. We have his EAD and temporary SSN.
