Local INS interview - New York

Hello,
I just heard on the AVM at VSC that my case was transferred to the local INS office in New York.

Will anybody who has had the same experience before, share what happens now. How long is the wait before the interview and what happens at the interview.............
Thanks.....

I tried

... to get the NewYorkers together but nobody responded then. Alll the best Buddy. Can you post your details, rd/nd/eac stuff. Thanks

ajay gurung and 2001dec

The only reason (I think) New yorkers didnt reply was because there's not a lot of New Yorkers transfered, (again I am just guessing).

Now If you have any questions about NJ/MD transfers There are a number of threads in archives and on live discussion which may help you folks, as far as documents, questions, etc is concerned.

But for the time frame only a New Yorker could reply to that.

Hope that helps

AVM message saying case transferred to local INS office in NY 08/28/02

Any idea on what happens now?????????????

Transfer notice first

I am in the MD baltimore transfer list.
After you hear AVM, you eill receive a TRANSFER NOTICE
from VSC that "Your preliminary processing is over
and case transferred to ---- office"
Then the local office will schedule an interview and
send interview notice and list of all documents to bring.
This time may vary from office to office.

Apparently, it is taking a while to hear anything from NYC office once the case got transfered there. ..My case got transfered there in April and have not heard anything from the NYC local office yet... Any one has ideas how long it usually takes? Thanks.

NY transfers not looking good

Seems all the NY transfer cases are on hold. Not good to get a transfer in NY. I guess Baltimore is doing better on this front.

One question

One question to the guys whose cases got transferred to NYC local INS office

Is your residence stated as NY or your labor certification thru NY state ?

Am trying to figure out what the criteria might be to transfer a case ..

In my case I live in NY. Does any one know how to check case status in NY. Is it possible to go there physically NY INS office and check. Do I need an appoinment?

Re: One question

good point phoaupkari

My labor cert was done via NY but I was sent to Newark for my FP, I am wondering which state my case belongs to. I am guess the state that you live in because you are a legal resident of that state.

The Labor Cert will be done in the state that the job is located as in where you work. The finger printing etc is done at the local INS office in the state that you live in and so is the stamping.

So I guess if our cases do get transferred they will be in NJ ( where i live) rather than NY(where I work).

Just be prepared

One of my colleagues' case was transferred to NYC for interview. She did not know that it was transferred until she received the notice. Upon waiting for another 2 months, she was called and interviewed. You know how long more she waited for the approval? 6 months.

In the transfer case you cannot do anything but be prepared for waiting. How frustrating.

Another NY Local INS interview case

RD: 09/17/2001
ND: 10/13/2001
FP: 02/08/2002
AVM Updated: 09/11/2002...

Says case has been transferred to Local INS office.
Can't think of any reason why? same job, same addr for last 4 yr.

Guess, I got to prep myself for another year of wishing and waiting!!!!!

question for 'Cole'

Cole, when did this happen? Would greatly appreciate if you can post more details on that case (like RD/ ND/ InterviewDate/ AD etc.)

If 'WaitingForTheGC', whose case was transferred in April has not heard back from Local INS as of 09/01/2002 (~5months), I guess you colleague who got an interview call from Local INS in 2 months was actually OK. I guess waiting 6months from time of interview to final approval was the sad part.

Thanks.

Can you please provide details on:
a) When she get the "transfer" notice?
b) What kind of questions that she was asked in the new york office?

Thanks in advance...

My case detail is:
RD: August of 2001
FP: Dec of 2001
Transfered to NYC: April of 2002
still waiting to hear from the NYC local office...Not too sure how things are run there in the local office, but apprently, there are not too much movement from this office....

Any thoughts?
Thanks.
