hey everyone. My parents moved here from south america in 1989 and i was only 6 yrs old. Now i'm 21 and my family were trying to get GC through my mothers work. Eventually, both my parents and my sister are eligible to apply for the GC, but not me because i'm over 21. I did all my schooling here, from 1st to 12th grade. Is there a way that I can apply showing that i never left the country, have a good record, great student and i wasn't my fault that my parents brought me here. I have no family members left in south america. Everything i know and have is in America. My lawyers tell me that getting married would be the only way.... can anyone please advise, are there other alternatives.

thx OMEGA

What's up Omega? Hope you are doing okay. I totally understand what you are going through. I am in the same situation right now. I came to the U.S. in 1988 from Central America, when I was seven years old. I attend elementary, junior high school, and high school in the U.S.. When I graduate from high school I was looking for a way to obtain Permanent Residences(Green Card) and many lawyers told me to get married. Fortunately, my mother was granted Permanent Residence in 2003 and petition for me to obtain a green card. Right now I'm waiting for USCIS to approve my petition.

Unfortunately, omega, the only way you will be able to obtain a green card is by getting married or waiting for your parents to petition for you. Keep your head up and don't lose faith.

Check partisan bill S 1027 (Number I am not sure), it allows you to file GC after high school graduation, yourself, if you have done all your schooling. Check with any immigration attorney.
