Hello everyone. I am new here and would like to take this oppourtunity to say hi to everyone
OK.....I am new to this.....I have read around the FAQ but non of the issues seem relevant to my situation.
My situation:-
My brother and I are both English born citizens of Great Britain.
My older brother and I were seriously considering moving to America (New York as an example destination). My brother holds a degree in Environmental Management and has a wealth of experience in people management positions. I have been to university for two years but left due to financial constraints and therefore did not graduate, however I am of degree calibre. I have a lot of useful attributes, but no pice of paper saying I have a degree
Our idea was to sell a property that my brother owns and use the income to move to America, and then look for a job. We are both presently employed by American Standard (I presume USA citizens will have heard of this company?).
We had numerous ideas, but here is the summary:-
1) Sell up in England, and try to attain a visa based on our education / abilities and disposable income.
2) Visit America and see what oppourtunities are availible for work. Then aply for positions in the area (symeltainiously applying for Visas) we would choose to live, notifying potential employers of our intent.
3) Apply for an internal transfer within the company we work for. (however, it should be noted, that it would be highly unlikely that this would be successful)
Questions:-
If my brother became successful in his immigration and I did not....what routes could be taken to ensure that my immigration was imminent? I have read that peoples brothers / sisters have sponsered them....? Further information..?
What would be the main governing factors in the deciscion on our immigration (with this knowledge we could make ourselves as acceptable as possible)?
If we were accepted as immigrants, what restrictions would be presented to our daily living? And how likely is it that our visas would be revoked once we have been accepted?
What would be the wage and tax implications of Green Card holders within America? (IE - increased tax rates / lower wages / inflated national insurance rates etc)
Would such systems as Credit Rating be applicable within America, as they are here in England? IE, would an applicant holding a good credit rating here in England have the same kind of rating in America? Also would our current Drivers Licences be valid too?
Hypothetical Question:-
If we said "right, lets throw caution to the wind and go for it!!" How would we do it? What agreements do we have to make with the immigration authorities here and in America, before we touch down on American soil?
I know there are a lot of questions here, but any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. We really want to do this, but we want to do it right (no jails or deportation)
Please feel free to e-mail me or contact me via ICQ if you wish to chat
Take care everyone, thanks again.
Yours
Matthew
