The AVM message changed to "because your case has been process... blah... you current process time would be 540 days", faint...

Called IIO

I called last week friday and IIO said, she will put a note on this and I should hear in a week. I just called now(4:00PM). This IIO says, it has been assigned to the officer, and the file reached him today and should hear decisiton in about roughly two to four weeks. God only knows the meaning the IIO\'s words.
 
Strange AVM Message about RFE info -

Hi friends,

My RD is 06/01 - My AVM message changed today (02/08) from "FP received...Case has resumed processing..." to "As of 02/08, the additional info requested was recieved...bcoz preliminary processing on ur case has been completed, your case will take 360-540 days to process". But I NEVER RECIEVED ANY RFE IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! My message sounds similar to stiger, but the diff is I did not get any RFE. Any opinion guys? You think it could be a mistake?
 
Help!!! RFE issued and questions

I talked to IIO today was told a REF was in preparation..

1) How long did you guys receive RFE after you hear about it.
2) Can I respond to the RFE myself? Because My company lawyer may delay my cases just as before..
3) How many days I have to respond to RFE?
4) When responding RFE, do I have to include the orignal copy of
   RFE paper or just photocopy or even without it? Anyone with experience with it?

usually you have two months to reply for the RFE. Don\'t worry about it. Let it come, prepare salary slip, w2, tax return and employer letter. It should help you reply as soon as possible. Best of luck.
 
Finally got the approval...

I heard the magical words yesterday that the case is approved! So, the 3.5 years long saga is over finally... feel quite releaved and relaxed :)

AIndian , thanks, but my concern is my Stupid Lawyer may
delay the respond just as they did to other things before.

If ever I need to respond myself can I do that since , since I-485 is really my case,? Do I really must to
attach the RFE paper the INS sent to the atterney?

Also, could you answer my previous question?? how long did you
receive the RFE after you learnt from IIO. My AVM hasn\'t changed yet,
it\'s still standard message "You i-485 was received....."..
 
my opinion to RFE

When IIO says they are preparing RFE letter, it does not mean they have sent out the letter yet. Usually (like my case) it will take 3-5 working days to mail the letter and the AVM will get updated. The AVM will give the actual letter-issuing date. Based on that date you should expect another 5 working days for your lawyer to get the letter. Then you will know what INS was really asking for.

Since your lawyer has been represented you since the beginning of your case, you must signed G-28 Form and all the letter from INS has been directly mailed to your lawyer since then. If you decide to change the case to be handled by your self I think you should talk to your HR/lawyer about this. Otherwise INS will get confused.

It would be safer to let the lawyer to continue your case even it will delay filing RFE a few days. Think about this, you would be happier let lawyer to collect and check all the paper in professional way so INS will be easier and more quickly to make the decision rather than you perpare the paper in a unprofessional way. Which way will save the time the best?

If you really want to file it by yourself, you need the original RFE letter because it has your case number with the bar code. And INS does mention on the letter you can not use the copied one to reply. Usually you will have up to 90 days to reply the RFE.
