I obtained my GC in 2001. I went out of the country in 2003 though I maintained continous residence as my job involved frequent traveling. I returned in 2005. Next month I will be eligible to apply N400.

- My continous residence and physical presence requirements are met.
- Did not own or rent a house during the period of my absence
- Filed Income tax during my absence
- Maintained credit cards and bank accounts during my absence through a forwarding address in the US

My questions is this:

N-400 asks the list of residences in the last 5 years. Should I give my forwarding address here or my residence overseas?

Please advise.

Regards,

when you filed your income tax, which address did you use on your phone? Also, which address was the W2 sent to?

i would use those address(es) in N400 form.

you did not need to rent / own a house. however, during your absence, you must have used some sort of addresses for your mail purpose. unless it is a Po box, otherwise, I would use the forwarded address in the form

Thanks for the response.

Since I did not plan well, I have had few mails and W2 sent to the overseas address. Will it be an issue if I give the overseas address as the place of residence?

Thanks for the help.

Best,
