Let's hire a lawyer and fight back ? October 2005.

ok guys lets fight

Hi guys,

First let's understand the situation and see what are our options, we also need to brainstorm on this situation.

let's look at the brief history, remember how GCs were approved during dotcom boom, how H1B quotas was increased, it mainly happened due to strong corporate lobby lead by hawks like Bill Gates,

we are treated like commodity with supply and demand rule, see how Schedule A category is created conveniently for huge nurses demand.

We need to market ourself to the lawmakers aka congressmen and senators, I really don't think immigration lawyers can be of any help ( just my opinion).

Following are my suggestion

Try writing letter to local senators congressmen, if possible try to meet them personally, in some states you can take an appointment to meet senator.

-We are educated, highly paid professionals
-We pay taxes and obey the law
-Most of us speak good English

We also need convey our congressmen, how we are helping US economy by keeping jobs in US, I know many of my friends frustrated by this green card went back to India and work for the same company.

let's come up with many more points that we can sell

Also, guys itz not end of the world don't stress too much on this, use AC-21 and change job, hire a good attorney to handle AC-21 case and enjoy life.

On second thoughts ... if the government did not care for its own people caught in Katrina.. why would it care for us ??

Hi guys,

Sure. Hire a good attorney to change jobs on AC-21. It seems all that easy for you. THen your new job doesn't work out for whatever reason, you are laid off and here you go again under pressure to find this "same or similar full-time job" under time contraints and under pressure to have this entire greencard process wasted. It is not all that simple.

if you think about it, they would have drowned if they did'nt shout, scream :D

Also, remember we are not begging GC nor US Governement is doing us any favour, itz just business, like I said we need to market ourself better.

This Country need working professions as much we need to be in this country.

do not under estimate importance of your contribution this country

Hi Marlon66

you could still get laid-off even if you have ur Green card, I was refering few guys who mentioned they are letting good opportunites to go by just because of GC, I for myself used AC-21 and changed my job

I know it is not that easy,

Correct, you can be aid off even your current job. However, many new employers are likely to put in a probation period that makes easier to kick you out or terminate you for whatever reason in the first 6 months. For example, in my job I pretty much know the environment, the politics involved and I know my boss is happy with my work, according to performance reviews. If I move to a new job, that's unknown. Hard to predict this type of thing and AC-21 is limited for that reason.

Any detailed plan? What is the best way to make ourselves heard, just like those in Katrina? A coordinated one week off - everybody takes the first week of October off?

We can BS here.
Like someone wrote - define your destiny. I 200% agree with that philosphy and live that philosphy. So if you want to define your destiny, I feel the best way to define is let the lawmaker hear from us. Not enoungh to do by e-mail but by driving to Washington DC for a peaceful march in thousands on one particular day...take some sponsorer's. The indian and Chinese community.Let it be known through media the mischief game USCIS is playing and how ineffiecient those @#$%&*@ USCIS guys are.
To me look like no taker to go to washington dc. So what I understand is we are just venting out the heat of tension beacause of Visa Bulletin. After some days the things will come to square one.
