Legal status gap ?

I am doing my postdoc on H1-B visa. My visa expired on June 30 and I was trying to renew in June. But the secretary of my research center forgot to send my files to the International Center of my school, as a result, my application for renewal was submitted to INS in the mid-July and I received approval 2 days ago.

On my new H1-B visa, it shows the valid date starts July 1st. My question is whether I have one month legal status gap that may have negative impact when I apply for GC or adjust citizenship later ?

Did you get I 94 at the bottom of H1 approval notice and the validity is exactly the extn of H1. ? If your ans is YES, you no need to worry, you are in status.

15 Day gap

On a similar note, my H1 with Company A ended on May 15, 05 just around that time i changed organization the attorney from my new organization sent my papers late and to add to that the weather was terrible and Fedex delivered it late. So in terms of dates:

May 15th: Visa end date
May 17th: papers sent to Vermont
May 25th: Vermont office acknowledges the receipt
Finally when my I-797 came thru the start was Jun 1

So on the 2 h1's, there isa gap of 15 days.

Where do I stand now.
