Hi all,

I work for a US company overseas and I am a green card holder. I do have approved N-470 on hand and my I-131 is currently pending. I am eligible to apply for naturalization next year. I am wondering if my attorney could file my application while I am overseas and if so, whether this would constitute a problem during my citizenship interview. Thanks much!!

Maybe, but I don't think I've ever heard of someone applying while they are abroad. Probably would be ok since you have the N-470 and an attorney to keep track of the paperwork/appointments etc.

Besides the physical and continual residence requirement, there's a 90 day same district residency requirement when applying for naturalization. It may be tricky to prove this when outside the country.

We just talked about this the other day. The OP has the N-470 approval letter from USCIS which states that all time spent abroad counts towards both physical presence and continuous residence. Under those circumstances I find it hard to think that his district residence would have been interrupted.

I am thinking the same but not sure if my attorney can file my application while I am in Australia. That I have to research.
