leaving before B1 extension approval

Hi All,

I have come to the US in Nov on B1 visa and my petition for extension of stay has been filed with the USCIS before my original I-94 expired.
However, as per the processing dates as seen on the USCIS website, my approval/denail status would not be out when i would be leaving in the first week of April. I have my original I-94 with me.

Can someone tell me what must i do when the approval/denial result comes after i have left the US. In case approval is granted, what must be done with the new I-94 which will be attached with the approval letter??

Expecting a prompt reply.
Thanks.

The way I look at it, if you surrender your original I-94 upon departure and shortly after that your extension is granted, then no action is needed on your part. ICE will know that you left the US on a certain date. They will get that from the original I-94. So you should be in the clear for future visits. I may be wrong however.
