Leave US with AP? Can I return on GC Card

I am married to USC and applied basic form for GC. I have my GC interview in november but got stuck in name check, so right now its a wait and watch situation. If I leave US without an AP in hand and meanwhile I get GC in post mail - Can I re-enter US with the GC ?

Anybody can advice on it? Just making sure if that is an option.

I would not like to take such chance. Because you will never know how ling it will take to clear the name check. I have seen people waiting from 2 years. Plus I would not prefer the GC to be mailed. It may get lost or stolen.

Assuming you are not currently on a H1/L1...

If you dont apply for AP, leave the country and If your GC is still not approved by the time you return, this is what would happen

1. Your entry into US would be denied as you have no travel documents.
2. Since your GC is pending and you left US without AP, your GC application is considered abandoned.

In short, you lose your GC and wont be able to get into US. Why would you want to do such a thing?
 
No I wont leave without AP now (since I got it approved today morning). I was wondering what were my option (Just in case). Anyways, I am relaxed it is approved. I do want to thank you for the quick response and suggestions.
