Hi Guys It will be great if someone can answer my concern. I have applied for GC based on marriage to USC. But as i learned we must show some documentation to prove the authenticity of marriage. We have bank accounts ,joint bills and pictures etc. I also have joint lease from my previous residence. But I couldn't get my partner on to lease ( Application was rejected) when we moved to new apartment. But I signed the lease along with my cousin who shares apartment with us. All I want to know is " will there be any adverse effect on our INS interview if we cannot show that we are on lease together. Any information/suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks for your valuable time

The reason why USCIS asks for documentation regarding joint ownership of stuff is as an indicator to prove that you have a legitimate marriage. Thus, if you have sufficient documentation showing that both of you have joint assets, you should be okay. However, just to make sure, collect as much documentation as possible to prove that you and your spouse share the same residence, even though the lease is not in their name. Examples would be- joint telephone bills, bank accounts with same residence listed, as many things that you can think of that both of you live in the same apartment. If they ask you about the lease, answer honestly, and be sure to mention that your cousin lives in the same apartment as well. (legally upright).

Good luck!!
