Can one file under the "traditional\' category for Labor NOW, and then file under RIR (say after 1 year) for the same position and in the same company?
 
I have heard that LC can be filed at two different companies at the same time.

You can ask for status on your LC at SESA, in CA, by calling 916-464-3425 but you need to have your case number.
