layoff:EAD renewal ques

I have a valid EAD that will expire AUG-2003. I was told by my company that I will be laidoff on Dec1st 2002. Now I want to apply for EAD renewal as a backup because of the economic situation. I know it's too early but I want apply for another EAD before I get laidoff. Is this a good idea and do you think INS will approve. Please advise

INS will approve

But it will issue EAD from the date of approval and will not match up to the current EAD expiry date. Nothing wrong in having multiple EADs...

I am Agree with Jaxen,

I just want remind you that I-485, AP, EAD is your application (not your company), so it won't hurt to wait till may-2003 (3 months before EAD expire) and apply. And if you want to spend money it's not also bad idea.

I will probably wait few more months to apply. I am just worried that if I am unemployed and apply for EAD renewal and INS send RFE or something then I will be in trouble. Do you guys think it's a valid concern....

Yes

Compared to money spent thru employers, 120+ dollars for EAD is nothing. I would recommend applying for EAD now...
