Lay off when AOS is pending

If AOS is pending for more than 180 days and the person got lay off, can he/she keep the AOS application. I heard that it can but with restriction. Where can I find the information? How can keep the AOS after lost employment. Anybody successfully did that already? Could you please share the experince?
 
I think this depends on several issue:
1) your company ( laying off) shud not have infored CIS . then you will have problem only if they ask for references of pay stub or employment letter.
2) you shud get another job as soon as possible as there is no time and after 180 days you are safe as long as new job offer has similar job description on paper.
Search on this site you will get lot of information. There are people who got approval after laying off .
 
Technically, you must be employed only when RFE is issued, so you can get an EVL from your employer. Other than that, you are fine.
 
Thanks for the response! Kash777 mentioned that this depends on the employer not to tell the INS. Any comments on this? What if they informed INS?
