Lay Off - 2months in to I-485 stage - Just received FP

Hi,

I got my FP notice and I am getting laid off in the middle of April. We haven\'t received our EAD yet. But got AP and FP. Dependent is on H-1. What happens to us. This is after 4 yrs waiting. I am panickingly checking the web site for more information. I guess there is releif if 6 months have been passed but not for 2 months after I-485.

Try to find another employer who is willing to allow you to transfer your H1-B. Pay for the process if you have to. Good luck

Could you post your details (ND, etc...) There\'s some hope in getting approval by 4/15 depending on your ND dates and whether you get your FP done soon. However, this chance is slim.

Is your employer going to notify the INS right away? If not (I saw this on the board before), you might still get your EAD and hope for the best as far as the I-485 approval is concerned.

My FP date is first week of may so I have to wait till atleast june to get my 485 clear. I am thinking to get the fp done ahead of time. Are there any ways to negotiate with the current employer to keep me for another 2 months or transfer me to another group for couple of months. We are not sure how much is impact. But currently no other group is hiring in the same company.

sorry to hear that..I would suggest this
1) Get you FP done earlier than appointment date..
2) Inform your company that you not be paid any salary ...for next 2 months....You sort of is on unpaid vacation then but tell them to give salary slip with $0 as salary ...This should work..
