Lawyer will help with interview

It is better to not go with a lawyer if you don't have a complicated case (by complicated I mean if you or your spouse have criminal records or things like that)
The lawyer who helped me prepare the forms told me that the uscis officers tend to be suspicious and a bit nasty if you come with your lawyer, they don't like it.
 
I NEVER heard that IO is suspicious if you take one. What if you are too nervous or something? I did take one mostly because my parents insisted. Well, it was somewhat waste of money (she didn't say a word), but it made us all feel better at the interview.

That's what I've been told from a very good lawyer, but this may be the case only where I'm at though (miami).
And as you mentionned, the lawyer can't really say anything during the interview, you and your spouse are the only one who can answer the questions asked by the officer, so overall it's not very necessary to have a lawyer with you, unless you have a tricky case.

I think IO don't really care much whether lawyer comes with you or not. I agree with you having lawyer is very handy if you have complications (like 245i, or court orders, or something else). I've heard horrid stories about my office (including the fact it's one of the worst in number of denials), so taking a lawyer "just in case" I think wasn't bad idea. However as I said it was waste of money for me. :) And if you don't know your hubby's b-day lawyer not gonna help much! Lol!
