last name is wrong in I797

Hi,
I had got my H1 approved last year. But the last name was given with a single 'typo' error, when my employer had submitted the petition.
Instead of 'GOV' it is spelled as 'GIV'.
Inspite of asking n-number of times, my employer keeps saying there is nothing to worry about this.
Initially they said, it is the mistake with the 'issuing autority' , but now they are saying it is an error by the lawyers and it is tough to get it corrected.
I'm an L1 to H1 transfer and going for stamping this september.
Can anyone please let me know the procedure for this and help me on this?

lawyer should get it corrected or be ready for problem at the time of visa stamp.
ask the lawyer copy of full petition that he sent to USCIS and you can find if your name was written wrong by lawyer on forms or it is USCIS mistake(lawyer has the copy of full petition).
