Hello,
My wife was granted conditional status 2 years ago. She is hispanic and the INS Officer decided to change her last name to Garcia de Lard, which is the name on her greencard. We asked why and he stated that this is what they do for Hispanic last names. I thought this was completely absurd but did not argue as to not risk being denied. Our marriage certificate states her last name as Lard. My question and worry is she has been using Lard as her last name the past two years. Her driver's license also lists Lard as the legal last name. We are in the midst of filing I-751 for removal of conditions and I am scared that this will raise a red flag. All of our supporting documentation utilizes Lard, not Garcia de Lard as her last name. Do you think we will have problems? If so, what can we do? Thanks a lot.
