Hi,
I have an oath cermenoy at SF tomorrow, and I heard that it takes between 2-4 hours.
does any one know if latop is allowed in ??
thx

I knew that type of answer was coming ;)
and yes, nothing of an emergency kind would happen, I just thought I could do something useful while waiting 2 to 3 hours????

Sidding, here is what I did to kill some time. I had taken along a Sudoku puzzle book but never got around to working on even one puzzle. The section I was assigned to had plenty of people who were more than willing to talk up a storm with me. It sure made time fly. At one point, I asked them to save my seat so that I could take a restroom break. Once that was done, I walked several laps around the inside of the building, went to the upper level and sat with my husband for a few minutes, went back down and chatted with ushers and USCIS employees, and then returned to my seat about 10 minutes before the start of the ceremony. Well anyhow, that's how I entertained myself. :D:D

Enjoy, your ceremony to the fullest.:)

The post I linked is an answer to a question I posted regarding use of laptop in oath ceremony. The problem is that I made the question in a thread that was talking about passport. So, in short, yes the post is relevant and the answer about the laptop applies to the oath ceremony.

The etiquette would be that one might use the laptop until the ceremony starts, but not during the ceremony, the same way one would be expected not to be talking loudly on a cell phone while reciting the oath ;)

thanks again Huracan,
another questions though :
I was told that the earlier you there, the better, does it really speed up the departure process ??
thx

siddig, unfortunately I don't have experience with San Francisco. I am not sure what strategy will work better in terms of speeding up. At the end of the day is how much departure time you save for your arrival time "earliness". From what I remember in Campbell I think they gave the certificates in order of arrival, however, the process was rather fast. I guess if you actually get there latish it might take you longer to collect your certificate, but overall you spend less total time at the ceremony. Is it really that important to you to shave 15 or 20 minutes from the overall time? ;)

not to sound whiney or cranky, but I have many variable to consider here , like work (I can't afford and don't want to take the day off) and the parking situation (was told the other day that it was $50 for the 2nd ceremony) and traffic, etc
based on all of those factors I was trying to gauge what would be the best scenario..
but hey we all waited sooooo long for this, and one more wasted day won't kill....
