Hi All,

I am planning to enter Canada by road from US by end of Oct'08.
1. Can someone please confirm if I can show my US bank statement as proof of fund, or it is compulsory to have Cashiers check with me?
2. I am planning to be in Canada for 1 week and then return back to US, hence I will inform the officer as Goods to follow. Do I need to provide a list & value of the goods to be followed?
3. I am planning to take my Laptop as it has my GPS connection. Do I need to declare it? Will there be a problem with it?
4. Since I am planning to be in Toronto for 1 week, Can I get a Canadain Driving License? Or I need PR Card for it?

I would like to thank everyone who has been contributing to this FORUM. I have been reading it through out my application process and it has been of great help to me. Thanks a lot and anticipating answers on these questions.

Rgds,

Him

A1: US bank statement should be enough.
A2: Yes, your "goods to follow" list should include a description and estimated value of the listed items
A3: I see no problems with your laptop
A4: You can show your IMM1000 in lieu of the Maple Card.

Thanks for info SKG. I have some questions Regarding "Goods to Follow"
1. Is there a FORM I need to fill? If yes where can I get it?
2. Do I need to fill it in fornt of the officer or prepare in advance?
3. I m planning to buy TV on a later date? Do I need to inform the officer regarding it, as i m not sure on the model of TV I m going to get?

Thanks a lot again.
Best Regards
Him

A1: No official form. A word or excel document will suffice.
A2: Prepare it in advance.
A3: Only goods purchased (and used) before you land qualify for duty-free import.

Hi everyone,

We are plannin to go to canada in Jan for getting our immigration visa stamped and to get the PR. we are plannin to stay in Canada for 3-4 days and come back to US. I have few questions regardin the same

1. In the application form, we had given " Place intended to live in canada " as Toronto and Ontario. Does that mean we have to go for stamping only in these places or we can go elsewhere.

2.What are the usual questions asked by the immigration officer on the Canada side and how much time does the process take place?

3. We are not plannin to move to canada for atleast one year, so what are we supposed to say for the goods or the luggage ? what should we tell the officer if he asks how long do u intend to stay? can we tell we will go back to US in 3 days?

4. What are the question that an US immigration officer will ask. Can we tell them we had gone to get our canadian PR?

I would really appreciate if anyone can answer these questions for me..

Thanks in advance
