Hi ,

I am currently on H1 with an expired stamp(May 2006) on the passport but a valid I-797 (May 2007).I have read many posts on this forum which have cleared a lot of my doubts but here are a few concerns .I will be landing in Canada by car from Buffalo to complete the PR formalities in early July.

Here are my questions:

1) I plan to stay there for just 2 days.Is that ok?Is there minimum stay requirement to complete the formalities?I don't plan to apply for SIN in this trip.

2) The documents which I have to take with me are:

a) The approval form b)Passports c) Pay Stubs d) Bank Letter e) I-797.

Is that all or are any additional documents required?

3) When I drive into Canada, do I have to get additional insurance from the car rental agency in Buffalo?

Thanks,

-- No.

-- No. But better inform the rental car company so that they can tell you if there are any rental company specific rules regarding driving the car across the border.

You plan on coming back on an expired H1-B visa. US won't be thrilled with I-797 and an expired H1-B stamp.

Ever heard about the AVR?

ya,some rental companies dont let you go beyond a few states or into another country. If you violate that rule you will be slammed with 1000$+ penalty fee.How do they know where you travelled to?GPS,all the rental cars have it now.
