My wife landed in Canada last week at Pearson. The landing was mostly smooth although the border guard was quite concerned that we had changed to H1/H4 status while in the US. He actually said that most people do this because they want to persue a US green card. We said that we would be travelling back and forth from Canada to the US for the next year or so and insisted that our final destination was Canada.
My question now is, with the new law coming on June 28th, does my wife need to enter Canada and leave after the law is passed so that it applies to her or can she remain here (USA) and accumulate physical presence without the extra trip? We do not want her to abandon Canadian PR status.
