Hi, I have been advised that I will shortly be laid off. I am presently on a L1 visa and my wife is on an L2. We are both Australian citizens.
Unfortunately my wife is currently 30 weeks pregnant. We already have all the arrangement in place to have the baby in the US (doctors, hospital, parents visiting).
Both my wife and I will be eligible for CORBA insurance after we are laid off. My question is the following:
Can we continue our CORBA insurance and change to a B2 Visa to allow us to remain in the US to have the child. We fully intent to return to Australia after the baby is born but would like to be granted 180 days to have the baby and sort our affairs out.
Can anyone see any issues with this ? We wont be seeking any taxpayer assistance.
When apply for the B2 - should we mention the reason that my wife is expecting shortly and that we have insurance to cover the delivery ?
