I am trying to get an non-availability certificate regarding my Birth Certificate. I was born after 1970. Starting 1970's, the birth registration is compulsory in India. So the INS will reject my non-availability certificate based on this fact?

Thanks so much...

NO.
I have seen a lot of people who are born after you and they have used Non-Availability Certificate along with affidavit from parent (or relatives) without any problem.

Hi GCCRAWL

So we don't have to get the birth certificate from Local municipalities in India? Is so, thats great.

THanks...

“You can get a birth certificate from NY consulate General office... in a day....”

--------------Birth certificate issued by Indian Embassy or consulate is NOT accepted by BCIS for AOS

Do we have to specify parents name in Full without the initials on the Birth certificate? I assume the parents name should match what is on the passport?

THanks

You can try & contact the City office / Village Birth registration / Hospital you born, they can issue a new certificate if your birth was registred there (It's India, so you may get it even if it was not registrated !!)
