I have been in US for five years now under H1 , I have not started any steps toward getting a GC, because I was changing compamies, I have another year left to finish 6 years.
I have a child who was born here , can I apply for a GC based on that or I have to ask my company to sponser me ?

is there any other ways to stay in US , I heard if I work for 5 years and paid tax, I can apply for GC ?????

You have to ask your company to sponsor your GC. Minor Citizens can not petition for GC. If you are from a country for which US has the GC lottery system, you may want to try that. I believe the next round will start soon, so do your homework fast. Even if you try this method, use your company's GC processing as a backup.

You child has to file for you and it will take 10-15 years after he/she is 16 year old.

mabosoud, ask your company to apply for GC.

It is just opposite if you are illegal, never paid tax - you can apply for GC, else there is long and winding road all the way.

I thought people have to be 21 years of age (at least 18) before they can sponsor their parents, are you sure it is 16?

Oh, and please dont insult honest vegetable vendors by equating them to the scums you are taking about.

I have no right whatsoever to degrade vegetable vendors. I apologize.

Yes scum is a indeed a better word.

I believe age is 16 (most likely) and if not so then it is 18 for sure. However please check it and update me too.
