Hi,

I Am working in USA on L1 VISA.My spouse has got a UK permit and she is working there.

She is planning to come to USA with in 2-3 months mean while she will be searching for an employment in USA from UK itself.

I have heard that she can get employment authorization for USA if she is on L2.

I have a queries.

1. Can she get her EAD from UK itself or she has to come to USA and then only she can apply for EAD.

2. How much time does it take usually to get work permit on L2?

3. IS there any specific perios that she has to spend in USA before applying for EAD.?

Please reply if you have any info.

I don't think EAD for L2 can be filed outside of the US.

It is instucted to file for EAD with evidence of lawful status which is I-94, however, I-94 is obtained only when you enter the US.
