L1B visa accepted - what next

Hi all,

Firstly I want to say how useful this site has been in my application process! This is however my first post as I am in a slightly confusing situation.

I have received email confirmation from the Vermont Service Centre that my L1B visa has been approved, and I am now waiting for my I797 to arrive in the post. Once it gets here (maybe another 3-4 days) I will schedule an appointment with the embassy (which may take 3-4 days), and then I beleive they need to keep my passport for 5-10 days.

The issue is this, I need to travel to the US next week (5th Feb) to attend my best friend's wedding on the 6th Feb.

Will there be an issue in me travelling into the US and postponing my appointment at the embassy until I get back? I will be in the States for 1 week and would enter on the ESTA/visa waiver system. Is there an issue with people travelling into the country who are in the process of applying/confirming the L1B?? Will I need to show anything else expect for an intent to return in 1 week?

Thanks for any help/advice that you can give.

Alex

I see no issue, specially seeing that you hold a passport from a VWP country. I seriously doubt the POE officer will know about your approved L-1B petition. Even if he/she does have knowledge about it after swiping your passport, answer his/her questions truthfully and you should be okay.
