L1B to H1B status doubt - urgent

Hi,

I need urgent help. Here is my situation.
I have been working in US in L1B visa for past 2 years and I have an I-94 valid till Sep 2005 for Employer A.
Recently Employer B applied for my H1B in Sept 2004 and I got my approval notice sometime in January with an effective date in Jan. But I continued to work in employer A.
In March, I left employer A and started working for employer B.

My question now:
1) what was my status between Jan 2005 to Mar 2005. - L1 or H1?
2) what is my status now - Mar 2005 onwards - L1 or H1?
3) Am/Was I out of status?
4) If i was out of status, will this cause a problem if I go for stamping?

please help. i need to get this clarfied.

You got your H-1B approved in Jan & Petition Effective date also in the same month. you status will be H-1B (Once your H-1B approved & petitioned date started your status automatically changed from L-1 to H-1B)

From Jan onwards your status is H-1B

3) Am/Was I out of status?

No. You are not out of status.

4) If i was out of status, will this cause a problem if I go for stamping?

There will not be any problem for stamping unless & until you reveal this issue at the consulate.
 
Thanks great guru and HBK for ur clarification.

I understand that my status changed to H1 as soon as my Petition is approved and Start Date is reached in January.

But even after that I was working for my previous company ( L1 employer ). Now only in March I started working for my new employer ( H1 employer ).

Is that Ok?
Idealy shudnt I be working for my H1 employer as soon as my status is changed to H1?
this will be clearly shown in my pay slip rite? will the Consulate guys wont create a problem while stamping?

I am little worried
please help
