L1 Visa - Please help

I am here on a L1 visa from an indian company. When i entered the US in January 2005 my visa was stamped for one year but my I-94 which was given to me is valid till 2007. My india office is saying that i can work in the US till 2007 without a visa, since the i-94 preceeds the visa. Is this true.

I have heard that you cannot work in the US without a valid visa, so if my visa expires in January 2006 can i or cant i work in the US after that. If i can work do i have to apply for an extension or can i work without applying for an extension? I am confused, please help

You can work in the US as long you petition is valid. In most cases you I-94 is given till you petition expiry date, so you petition might be valid till 2007 if not more.
