L1 to H1 (with out COS) - little tricky

Hello, I filed my H1B (with out COS) through company B in
May 2006(as I was in India with company A at that time, they filed H1B
with out COS).

But I came to US on company A's L1 in June 2006 and have been
working with Company A since June 2006. Now, my H1 (with out COS)
filed by company B got approved.

Question 1: Now as we did not file my H1B with COS, I am just wondering
if I can go Canada/ Mexico for my H1B stamping. Or, do I need to go back
to India for stamping?? Please advise.

Question 2: Also please let me know if I can continue to work for
Company A for sometime(a month or two), after getting my H1B stamped?

PLEASE HELP!!!

L1 to H1

I am exactly in a similar situation. But I did not get any reply from the forums. Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

1. I think you can go to canada/mexico - you better find out with those consulates
2. If you enter US on H1B - you have to work in similar lines - you cannot work on your L1B company

Successful stamping in Mexico

I was in the same situation as u and was also asked to apply in 2007 quota.

After consulations with my employer and his Attorney i opted to go to Mexico. I went to mexico recently and got my H1 stamped by god's grace.

Make sure that you have all required documents(All petition docs, offer letter, employer complete details like financial docs, photos etc, in case they ask). Questions might be little more for this case. But they will be mainly focused on your new employer(like what is the company, no of employees, client list etc) and the type of work you do and will do for the new employer.
