L1 to H1 - Status Issue

Hi
I am working for company A through L1 and had applied for H1B through company B in 2006 and my petition GOt approved in Decemebr 2006 but i am still contuniuing to work in compant A with L1 due to personal issues. Is it okay to work on L1 even after your H1 is approved.

Please advise. :(

If that is the case would INS ever inform my L1 company that my L1 visa is not valid? (I suppose they are supposed to do so)
What would be implications if I continue working with L1 company?
I dont know how did they change my status with H1 approvel? (And even though I had provided documents I did not sign any where in the applicaiton.) I was not informed that with H1 approval my L1 will be invalid. I had provided my L1 details, if that was attached with H1 petition does that mean with H1 approval the status also will be changed? Or should that be explicitly requested? I wonder why H1 company did not inform me abt this. And they want me to join them immediately.
Is there any way that I can retain my L1 status.
Kindly let me know if you have answers to the above.

Since you are not sure how they filed H1, the first thing you have to do is to check H1 approval notice. If you got I-94 attached to H1 approval notice, your status will be changed to H1 upon the start date printed on I-94. If not, you remain L1.
