L1 to H1 query

Hello!!
Currently I am in USA and have an L1-B visa. My H-1B application was approved by USCIS a couple of days ago. I am planning to appear for H-1B visa interview sometime soon. I would like to continue working at my L-1B employer till Aug, 2006.

Could you please answer my following queries:

1. Will my L-1B visa get cancelled as soon as I get H-1B visa stamped?
2. Will I be eligible to enter USA on my L1 status again after I get my H-1B visa stamped, since my H-1B status would be effective only from October 1st, 2006?

Thanks!!

1) May be cancelled, or may not be. When I got H1 stamp, my previous L1 was cancelled w/o prejudice. It probably depends on officer or consulate.
2) How did you file H1. Is that with I-539 or not ? You can enter the US with valid L1 stamp, but depending on your way to file H1, you may not be able to start working for H1 employer on Oct 1.
