L1 to H1 crisis - pls help

I am on L1 for company A and had my H1 processed by a company B. My H1 got approved along with change of status. For some reason I am unable to switch to company B immediately and also realize that my L1 is now invalid.

I could go back to India and come on a fresh L1. If I do so, will the H1 petition be valid after I come back? Will it be possible to request for COS from L1 to H1 when I come back or do I need to file for a fresh H1 all over again and wait until Oct 2007 to seek a COS?

Pls help !

H1 petition remains valid until it is cancelled or running out.
you probably can ask COS again.
