L1 to H1 and now want to change job ( L1 visa expired )

I have a question. I landed in US last year April-2005 on L1-B visa. and then filed Change of Status in July of which i got the approval in Dec2005 and I changed my employer and joined my new employer(who filed my H1-B) in Feb 2006.

Now the question is as I haven't gone out of the country since last April 2005. I don't have stamping of H1-B on my passport instead my passport have the stamping of L1-B visa whicch is expired in April 2006, but i have a valid I-797 form for my H1-B with a valid I-94. so Now can i change the employer based on the documents I have(ie. I-94 and I-797)

Please reply asap.
 
The point is stamp does not dictates one's status, but approved petition does.
You can ask lawyer to confirm, but i'm pretty sure you'll get the same answer.
