L1 --> H1

Hi,

1) I have sent my passport to St.Louis for L1-B extension couple of weeks back. Is there a way we can track the status of extension ?

2) Can I apply for an H1 visa through another employer during this time ? Is passport required for applying new H1-B ? I do have the photocopies of all pages with me.

3) I guess the earliest start date for new H1-B is Oct 1st 2004. Is it essential that I join the new company on 1st Oct itself. Can I choose to join on a later date or not join at all after new H1 comes through ?

***There is no way to track officially. But you can follow the revalidation visa tracker under the following thread.

***Yes, you can using the passport copies.

***You can join on or after the visa approval start date. You can also choose not to join them.
